Location

The Puppet Theatre is located in a converted medieval church called St James The Less. It is a grade one listed building and one of Norwich’s most recognised heritage sites.

 

Founders

The Puppet Theatre was founded in 1979 by Ray and Joan Da Silva as a permanent base for their touring company and in 1980 it was opened to the public, and is still welcoming people of all ages through its doors today.

 

Anniversary

It has been home to a whole family of puppets to over 30 years, and in 2010 The Puppet Theatre celebrated it’s 30th anniversary with a series of events and a number of celebrities contributing to the occasion.

 

Unique

The Puppet Theatre is only one of 3 physical building based puppet theatres in England. It is also the only theatre in the East of England that has a year round program of entertainment.

 

Specifics

Their theatre houses 175 seats in its main auditorium, a 50 seat octagon studio and throughout the year regularly puts on family-friendly workshops open to the public. There is also an exhibition gallery, shop and licensed bar. There really is more to The Puppet Theatre than meets the eye.
